Zoneminder and Ubuntu 16.04

I’ve recently got myself an IP camera so I can watch my back garden for movement (got some stuff out there that I would like to keep on CCTV).

Managed to install Zoneminder by using this link and added the camera. The strange thing was though, that I couldn’t view the camera. A quick look on Chrome dev tools showed that cgi-bin/nph/zms could not be found.

I found the solution here but I want to document it here for future use…

In the web interface, click options, then paths. Update the PATH_ZMS from /cgi-bin/nph-zms to /zoneminder/cgi-bin/nph-zms

Now, edit your Apache config file nano /etc/apache2/conf-available/zoneminder.conf and delete (or comment out preferably) ScriptAlias /zm/cgi-bin "/usr/lib/zoneminder/cgi-bin" and replace it with ScriptAlias /zoneminder/cgi-bin "/usr/lib/zoneminder/cgi-bin"

Restart Apache and Zoneminder and you’re done! service apache2 restart && service zoneminder restart
